First Objective: Howard County Debate League
Capitol's Debate first objective is to create a vibrant debate league in Howard County. Through working with the current board, administrators and teachers, Capitol Debate is seeking to create debate programs in all 12 High Schools in the county. Capitol Debate will provide training, debate resources, fundraisers, infrasture design and sustainability consulting to the league.

Supporting Debate in Balt/DC Metro Area
In conjunction with creating debate in all high schools in Howard County, Capitol Debate seeks to work closely with schools in the region to increase access to resources, training, debate evidence and assistance with growth.

Support Regional Colleges Start Programs
Capitol Debate also seeks to assists Colleges and Universities in the region start intercollegiate debate programs. College programs increase the chances of sustainability of high school programs as they become support systems for the local high schools. Additionally, college programs increase opportunities for local students to compete at the college level and receive scholarships.

Howard County National Travelling Team
Once the league has been set up and debaters have gained some experience, Capitol Debate seeks to give local debaters an opportunity to compete against the best in the nation through national travel. National high school debate tournaments are hubs for the top level high school debate teams to compete against each other. National tournaments include competitions include competitions at Wake Forest University, Georgetown Day School, St. Mark’s High School in Texas, Glenbrook North High School in Illinois, Lexington High School in Massachusetts, Emory University, Harvard College, and various national championships.

Fundraising Initiatives
Capitol Debate will help new and existing leagues raise money to assist leagues with travel budgets. Fundraising can include booster programs, eBay sales, fundraising events, corporate sponsorship, grant writing, and seeking funds from private foundations.
